Blackstreet | Don’t Leave Me

“Don’t Leave Me” was a single from the group’s second album Another Level, which also featured their most successful song “No Diggity”. Released in 1996, the album reached number three on the Billboard 200 album charts and number one on the Top R&B Albums chart for five weeks and sold over 4 million copies.

“Don’t Leave Me”, co produced by group member Teddy Riley, samples the melody from the song “A Dream” by popular 1980s soul band DeBarge.

The group later made a guest appearance on Jay-Z’s “The City Is Mine” and collaborated with Mya and Mase for the hit “Take Me There” from the Rugrats soundtrack. Throughout the years, the group went through legal and personal rifts, resulting in band members leaving and lawsuits. The band did however have a reunion in 2003 and released the album Level II.
