Since the release of the docu-series ‘Surviving R. Kelly’, social media has been in a frenzy.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – JANUARY 09: Demonstrators gather near the studio of singer R. Kelly to call for a boycott of his music after allegations of sexual abuse against young girls were raised on the highly-rated Lifetime mini-series “Surviving R. Kelly” on January 09, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. Prosecutors in Illinois and Georgia have opened investigations into allegations made against the singer, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly. Almost every artist in the industry has addressed the allegations being held against R. Kelly. Many of the singer’s fans have come out and said they will no longer be supporting him nor his music. While the uproar surrounding the documentary series has been going on within the last week, the singer’s daughter, Joann Kelly, has decided to break her silence a week after the documentary’s premiere.

“To the people that feel I should be speaking up/against everything that is going on right now; I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for all that I feel currently. I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless. That is my last intention. I pray for all the families and women who have been affected by my father’s actions.”

She continued: “Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this. However, it’s been very difficult to process it all. Let alone gather all the right words to express everything I feel. Anyone who knows me personally or has been following me throughout the years, knows I don’t have a relationship with my father. Nor do I speak on him or on his behalf. I also am not fond of dealing with my personal issues or personal life through social media. But I believe things are starting to get out of hand. Unfortunately, for my own personal reasons and for all my family has endured in regards to him, his life decisions, and his last name, it has been two years since my siblings and I have seen or have spoken to him. In regards to my mother, she for the same reasonings and more, has not seen or spoken to my father in years. My mother, siblings and I would never condone, support, or be apart of anything negative he has done or continues to do in his life.”

She added: “Going through all I have gone through in my life, I would never want anyone to feel the pain I have felt. Reminders of how terrible my father is, and how we should be speaking up against him, rude comments about my family. Fabricating me, my siblings and my mother part does not help my family in our healing process. Nor does it allow a safe space for other victims who are too scared to speak up. The same monster you all are confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house. My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for my peace of mind. [It’s for] my emotional state and my healing. I have to do and move in a manner that is best for me. It took me nearly three days to write this.”

Joann concluded her statement by thanking all the people who have sent good energy and prayers to her family during such a difficult time. She also claims 2018 was a very tough year for her family.

Despite the uproar the documentary has caused, R. Kelly is still living his best life. Last night, he was spotted out at a club in Chicago celebrating his 52nd birthday that was on Tuesday.

During his time at the V75 Lounge in Chicago, Kelly got on stage to sing along to his world famous songs.

In a video that was shared on social media showed a number of fans in the club singing along with the artist. At one point in the video, Kelly can be heard shouting through the microphone: “It’s my motherf**king birthday, and I don’t give a f**k what’s going on!” Fans cheered at his statement and continued to party in celebration.
