Syracuse Police Demand Hospital To Search Man’s Buttocks After A Traffic Violation Stop

Syracuse police forced doctors to perform an unusual drug search on a man after a traffic violation stop.
St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center performed a rectum check with an “8-inch flexible tube” in search for illegal drugs. This came after the hospital inspected forty-two-year-old Torrence Jackson via X-ray. Both procedures came back showing no drugs hidden inside of Jackson.
Jackson was arrested last year after he was stopped by Syracuse police.
Officials with the Syracuse Police Gang Violence Task Force reported they stopped Jackson because he did not signal at a proper time while he was making a turn. They considered them pulling him over as a “pretext stop,” which allows officers to pull someone who they believe to be suspicious.
According to Syracuse.com, Jackson’s lawyer, Charles Keller, claims the officers “recognized” him and pulled him because he’d had a confrontation with one of the officers before.
