Although he’s known for being on the wrong side of the law, free agent NFL cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones was attacked during a run-in with a facility-service employee at the airport in Atlanta, according to police.

Video of the incident first appeared on TMZ and seemed to suggest that oft-troubled Jones, 34, was the victim of a deliberate attack.

Atlanta Police spokesman Jarius Daugherty says Jones confronted ABM Industries employee Frank Ragin after Ragin made a ‘gesture’ toward the football player Tuesday night at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Police say words were exchanged before Ragin struck Jones with a closed fist, causing a cut to Jones’ face.

Daugherty says that at some point during the fight, Ragin ended up hitting a woman who was with Jones, injuring her hand. He says Ragin was the aggressor and Jones defended himself – a claim supported by video of the altercation.

Jones and his friend declined medical treatment.

The woman who accompanied Jones can be heard yelling, ‘Adam,’ while trying to break up the fight between the two.

Jones, who fought back after some initial hesitation, told the woman to ‘watch out’ before punching Ragin.

Ragin was arrested on two counts of battery and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.

Jones has been arrested repeatedly throughout his career, including a 2007 shooting at a Las Vegas strip club and a domestic violence charge in 2008 for allegedly striking a woman. He also pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer last year, served a few days in jail and was suspended by the league for a game.

Before signing with the Bengals in 2010, Jones was arrested no fewer than five times.

Taken out of West Virginia by the Tennessee Titans with the sixth-overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft, Jones quickly established himself as one of the premier kick and punt returners in the NFL, eventually earning one Pro Bowl and one All-Pro selection.

He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys and recently ended an eight-year stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, during which time his run-ins with the law decreased significantly.

Jones has remained unsigned since the end of the 2017 NFL season.
