K.Michelle is on a mission.
She has reportedly landed a new show, which will focus on her helping women have silicone removed from their body.
The Jasmine Brand reported the news on Tuesday.
According to the site, K. Michelle might have decided to help other women due to her own difficulties with the silicone she once had in her body.
K. Michelle became very open about her health in 2017 when she began to experience migraines, fatigue, and severe back and neck pains. Her health reportedly worsened the longer silicone stayed within her body. Doctors later found that silicone had spread from K. Michelle’s butt down to her legs, “damaging her tissue and threatening her overall health.”
K. Michelle admitted to having butt injections in 2012. She told People magazine she believed by altering her body she could boost her career.
She told the media outlet she heard about an Atlanta man who provided the silicone injections for women’s hips and butts.
“He wasn’t a doctor — it was a black market, it was these ‘hydrogel’ injections — that’s what they were being called,” she told People. “When I found out my favorite rapper did it, that’s when I decided, ‘I’m getting it done.'”
According to the Insider, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the injectable silicone could cause “pain, infections, scarring, permanent disfigurement, blood vessel blockages, stroke, and even death.”
Once K. Michelle realized how dangerous the silicone was, she began the process to have the injections removed.
But she had to undergo four surgeries before she could be fully healthy.
In January of 2018, K. Michelle decided to try liposuction to remove the silicone. But, she said the procedure only spread the silicone more around her body. A few weeks after the surgery she was rushed to the emergency room and needed two blood transfusions.
Four months later, K. Michelle had three more surgeries, which involved doctors cutting through blood vessels to remove dead tissue.
K. Michelle said it was the hardest thing she ever had to endure.
In late April, the singer took to Instagram and Twitter to give her followers an update on her health.
“I took a shower today without my nurse! Sounds small? Nope. It’s a huge accomplishment. I have to see two doctors today and [go to] therapy. But, I’m feeling like myself. So many women are going through this, and every day I meet new ones. All you can do is love yourself,”
She continued, “When I did my procedure I went to a person some of the [biggest] celebrities out have used, nothing cheap about it. I followed the trend, and that was one of the worse decisions of my life. I could’ve kept quiet about this, but I’m not fake. If I show you the good, I’ll show you the bad! I looked in the mirror today and didn’t look like a sexy ant! Lol! I’m so tiny and cute. And this butt of mine is all mine, and I’m still bootylicious. I still have full reconstructive surgery in a couple months for the scars and shaping and everything. But, my doctor is amazing, and he’s been there every step of the way! If you are going through this don’t sit around and [let it] get worse. It’s a very difficult surgery, but, it’s a healthy life. I have a long way to go aesthetically before I’m flexing for the gram, but I’m almost there!”
While K. Michelle was extremely happy about her new body, she told Instagram followers that she still had to adjust to it. The process also made her realize she needed to adjust her mindset when it comes to loving your body for what it is.
