Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals She Was “Too Short” To Play Will Smith’s Love Interest On Fresh Prince

Jada Pinkett Smith says she didn’t fit the height requirement for her hubby’s hit ’90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The actress, who spoke to Extra on the red carpet at the Girls Trip premiere in Los Angeles, says she was turned away when she auditioned to play Will Smith’s girlfriend.

“She got to do Fresh Prince,” Jada said of her Girls Trip co-star Queen Latifah. “I auditioned for Fresh Prince, and they told me I was too short… to play Will’s girlfriend — only for me to become his wife.”

Jada says she didn’t let that missed opportunity break her momentum. In fact, it only helped to motivate her — which was soon noticed by Fresh Prince producers.

“You know, once I got on my feet, and, you know, I was doing my thing,” she said. “I had done a couple of movies and I did Different World, then Fresh Prince wanna come back and be like, ‘We need you on the show.’ I was like, ‘No, I’m a movie star, I don’t have time.’”
