Home Is Where The Heart Is But Is It Safe?

Home was deemed the most dangerous place for women in a new study discovered by the United Nations Office On Drugs And Crime. On Sunday, findings were published stating that around 87,000 women were killed around the world last year and 50,000 of the deaths were caused by intimate partners or a family member. This means that around six women were being killed every hour by someone in their own home. Love and loyalty can go a long way, but when a life is at risk, you have to realize that even a loved one can be the enemy.
“While the vast majority of homicide victims are men, women continue to pay the highest price as a result of gender inequality, discrimination, and negative stereotypes. They are also the most likely to be killed by intimate partners and family,” the executive director of UNODC, Yury Fedotov said.
