28-Year-Old Ohio Man Fatally Shoots Teenage Girlfriend In The Head

Dayton police say, Trendell Goodwin, 28, shot his ex-girlfriend  LaShonda Childs, 17,  in the head after she broke up with him. Childs had recently broken up with Goodwin.

LaShonda died Wednesday morning from a gunshot wound to the head at Grandview Medical Center. The ex-boyfriend, Goodwin, reportedly drove her to the hospital, but doctors could not save her.

“It’s very devastating,” Nina Childs, LaShonda’s mother, told Ohio’s WHIO. “It’s something that will be devastating for the rest of my life.”

Childs told the news outlet the two started dating last September and her daughter used to confide in her about Goodwin’s behavior and told her that she was scared for her life and her family’s life. The two eventually broke up, but Goodwin continued to reach out to her, which prompted the teen to file a protection order.  Circumstances are unclear about what happened that night, but Nina says she when detectives arrived at her house, she knew something had happened between her daughter and Goodwin.
