In today’s ages sexually transmitted diseases are more popular amongst regular people dating around.
According to the American Sexual Health Association, an estimated one in two sexually active Americans will contract an STD or STI (sexually transmitted infections) by the age of 25. Therefore, it’s becoming more important for individuals with STDs to become comfortable with informing their partners of their illness.
“When first dating someone, most people want to put their best foot forward and disclose information about themselves over time, and as comfort, trust and feelings develop,” sex therapist Diane Gleim said. “Depending on your preference and your feelings about the person you’re dating, you may want to lead with your STI status or not. Either approach is OK, but not disclosing your status as the sexual activity becomes clearly imminent is not OK.”
