‘It started with a slap on the face’: The sick husband who beat his model wife black and blue during nine-month reign of terror
Disturbing footage of a model covered in bruises and cowering away from her violent husband has emerged as she reveals the verbal and physical abuse she’s endured since they exchanged vows.
Berenger Rose, 27, from Sydney, held her hands over her face and wept as she begged her husband Shane Cuthbert, 25, to stop hurting her after she claims he beat her with a pole, filmed her reaction and sent it to his friends as a sick joke, a Current Affair reported.

‘Please stop, you’re hurting me’ she said in a trembling voice as he instructs her to show him her legs which are covered in black and blue bruises.
‘Berenger Rose, the cover model,’ Cuthbert mocks.
The 27-year-old model, who has featured on the cover of Zoo magazine, said her husband’s temper spiralled out of control once they got married last year.
She said what started with a slap on the face soon escalated to unbelievable acts of violence that included her head being bashed against a brick wall, a cheese grater being used to slice her leg, clumps of hair being torn from her scalp and even allegations of rape.
‘He would hit my head, beat my arms, my legs, my hands, everywhere. He would just beat me like that until I was black and blue.’
Fearing for her life, Rose said she did not report the abuse and despite being knocked out on a number of occasions she was never allowed to visit a hospital for treatment.
‘He would call me crazy. Tell me that I was the one abusing him and I believed him. I thought I was the one with the problem,’ Rose said.
According to A Current Affair, Cuthbert has an extensive criminal history and had even featured on the television program as an ‘out of control child’ whose parents were struggling with his Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) diagnosis.
The 25-year-old is currently in police custody and is expected to face a string of charges in Mackay Magistrates Court on March 16.
He has been charged over making and detonating an explosive device in Bowen on Christmas Eve, as well as one count of willful damage and one count of contravening a domestic violence order which occurred on February 29, according to police.
It is not known if Rose has spoken to police about the allegations she made against her husband on a Current Affair.
