Cornell Belcher, who worked on both of Obama’s presidential campaigns, presented years of research about the mirage of racial harmony during Obama’s presidency in his book that was released weeks before Trump’s election. He shared that he had hopes that Obama’s presidency would lead to post-racial politics but instead, research compiled over the 8 years that Obama was in office showed a rise in racial aversion which lead to election of a candidate like Donald Trump.
