Police Are Searching For Suspect Who Beat 50-Year-Old Man And Stole His Empty Wallet At An Apartment Building In The Bronx.
A man was caught on surveillance video brutally beating a 50-year-old man with a broom stick before making off with his empty wallet, police said.
Cops are searching for the suspect, who was seen entering the lobby of an apartment building in the Bronx around 8.10am on Monday before beating one of the residents.
Footage shows the the victim trying to grab onto the stick at one point, before he fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital with bruises and a cut on his forehead.
The NYPD is enlisting the public’s help in the search for the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic man who is 5’5″ tall and 140 pounds.
Surveillance footage of the lobby shows the suspect entering the building on Monday morning, before walking out to the area between the two front doors.
The man can be seen brutally beating the victim, a 50-year-old resident of the building, with a broom stick.
At one point, the victim can be seen trying to grab hold of the stick, before the suspect pulls it away and continues the vicious attack.
The victim eventually falls to the floor, and the suspect forcefully removed an empty wallet from his jacket before fleeing, police said.
The victim was taken to the Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was treated and released, police said.
Police are still searching for the suspect, who has a mustache and a shaved head and was last seen wearing a yellow hoodie with blue jeans and black sneakers.
