Mexican President Cancels Meeting At The White House After Trump Orders Border Wall And Insists Mexico Pay For It.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto announced Thursday that he canceled a meeting that was scheduled with Donald Trump at the end of January after facing pressure from legislators to stand firm against Trump’s demands. Trump signed an executive order Wednesday moving forward on the construction of a wall along the Mexican border and continued to insist that Mexico pay multibillion-dollar cost. Peña Nieto took to social media to announce his stance tweeting, “This morning, we have informed the White House that I will not attend the work meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with @POTUS, “Mexico offers and demands respect, as a the sovereign Nation that we are.” Peña Nieto wrote.
