Junkie Thief Steals Yorkshire Terrier To Trade For Crack Rocks And Cash
Florida never seems to runs out of strange and ridiculous stories!
The 2-week-old Yorkshire terrier puppy stolen from a pet store, and later traded for crack and cash, has been found and taken to a veterinarian.
Largo police say Wayne Junior Barfield was seen on surveillance video on Jan. 12 putting the $1,600 dog down his shirt and leaving the All About Puppies store on Ulmerton Road. Detectives identified him on Jan. 14.
Kennel Manager Bridget Royal said the 9-week-old, 2-pound puppy had already been sold to a customer.
A tipster led detectives to Lealman where additional witnesses were interviewed. Barfield was arrested on Jan. 15 and charged with grand theft, resisting an officer and not having a valid license. He is being held in the Pinellas County jail.
