I’m Okay With Another Man Raising My Son. Is That Wrong?

Dear, Michael, I have listened to your show in the past and a few of my friends are posting from your Facebook. One post has me wondering where I stand, it was titled, “It takes more than blood to be a daddy, it takes a real man.” Here’s my story: I’m a single father raising two girls. Their mom is in their lives as far as visitation but no other support. About two years ago I met a woman from another state we fell in love and had a son. A short time later she decided to move back home to Minneapolis with our son.

I scrape up as often as I can to go see him; I pay my support, and even was proactive in setting up his long-term visits and support. What I’m thinking is am I weird to hope his mother finds a man who will love him and help raise him right, and at the same time I am scared to have him calling someone else daddy? If not for my girls, I would have already moved to Minneapolis. Signed Matt
